For a Drag Fill:
Click in a starting cell with a
desired value.
Notice a highlight handle icon
in the bottom right corner of the cell.
Clicking and holding
down the mouse button on the highlight handle allows you to
drag the highlight above or below the current cell to include
all desired cells.
For a Keyboard Fill:
Click in a starting cell with a
desired value.
Press and hold the Shift Key and
click the Up or Down arrow key to expand the highlight above
or below the current cell to include all desired cells.
You
now have a choice of one of two fill methods, each is executed
by a unique key combination: Ctrl+D copies the same value
to all highlighted cells (see "Copy
Cell" below), and Ctrl+Alt+D performs an incremented
Series Fill to all highlighted cells (see "Fill Series" below).
Methods
and Notes:
Copy
Cell: This Fill
Up/Down method causes all selected cells to be assigned the
same value as the starting cell selection. If a cell is read-only,
or a value exception is incurred, then a cell retains its
current value.
Fill
Series: This
Fill Up/Down method caused the value of each cell in a selected
cell range to be incremented by the value of one from the
original starting cell value. For IP Address type fields,
the octet that is incremented is based on the IP class type.
If a cell is read-only, or a value exception is incurred,
then a cell retains its current value.
Mulitple
Fill Types: When
both fill types are possible ("Copy Cell" or "Fill
Series")
a menu appears for your selection: No menu is needed for a
"Keyboard Fill" since the method
is indicated by the chosen key combination.
If
a column does NOT support Fill Up/Down when clicking
on a cell, the entire row is selected, as opposed to the starting
cell being selected.
